Notes:
This specimen captured by Doug Calvin at a lake in the Cascade Range SW of Bend, had an especially vivid red dorsal suffusion. This coloration seems to happen seasonally in late summer. Also, when encountered, the frog was eating tiny, just-transformed western toadlets (Anaxyrus boreas). Apparently, this population of spotted frogs is resistant to the toad's toxic skin excretions?
