It probably died from lack of oxygen over the winter. A very large pond dried up to only a swimming pool sized area, so every fish, frog, and turtle was concentrated here. Probably too many animals for such a small body of water, so there were many dead fish and a couple dead frogs. One live snapping turtle was also observed.
