Without a tail, it is even more difficult to distinguish B. peruviana (tail less than half of total length) from B. altamazonica (tail greater than half of total length). I've chosen B. peruviana because the other nearby salamander I saw (http://www.inaturalist.org/observations/2760448), which looked extremely similar to this one, had a peruviana-length tail.
