Roadkill. This individual had just been hit by a vehicle. The populations from Anamalais are clearly distinct from the nominate Uropeltis ocellata. I think this population belongs to 'Uropeltis ochracea Beddome, 1878'. This is a male (see the last image of hemipenes). The colours are exactly as described by Beddome - "Colour of the body of the male yellowish, becoming gradually brown near the head and tail, of the female dull brownish..."
