I was really surprised to see this turtle on the side of the parking lot. It was the diameter of a dinner plate. There was a mud hole and what looked like a slide. One leg was in the hole. Maybe it just came out of "hibernation" or was laying eggs.

I was trying to get it to stick out its head so I could see if it had red stripes on either side of it's neck (red-eared slider) and it bit me! Ouch! But I deserved it for poking her.
