After a search of the nearby woodlands for salamanders, a few snakes were found soaking up heat beneath a black drift fence at the edge of the forest. Garter Snakes (unusually large ones) were found within a foot of the Brown Snakes in one case, and all five snakes occurred within 100 feet of each other.
