There were 2 of them, both basking together at the opening of hole under a rock, which can be seen in the last picture. (probably a mating pair). one immediately escaped, but the other rattled a lot and put on a good show. Was quite active, but never striked out. Was flicking its tongue slowly. The temperature at the on the ground where they were basking was 86.3 degrees F and the humidity was 48.7% RH. Was cloudy in the morning, but then got really sunny and warm.
