This California Slender Salamander was found in a residential backyard, under a dead log. The age is unknown, either a small adult or a larger juvenile, it seems a little smaller than other adult members of this species. Key characteristics for this species is the small size and "snake-like" body with small limbs. While it may appear similar to other species in the genus Batrachoseps, B. attenuatus is the only species in the genus found along the Californian coast, north of Santa Cruz county.
