Notes:
Nerodia erythrogaster flavigaster (yellow-bellied watersnake). Found beside wet-weather drainage ditch on sheep farm, next to small bridge and brush pile providing lots of cover. Snake fled into water upon sighting, hid under submerged sticks. Bit handler and regurgitated frog upon capture. Docile afterwards, minimal musk. Released by water’s edge, but chose to retreat into nearby dry brush pile on bank (of note, handler was in water). Weather: 81deg F, partially cloudy after night of heavy rain.
