23” long juvenile Agkistrodon contortrix (Copperhead). Found under downhill edge of large rock sitting on steep wooded hillside above river, just in front of crack leading into/under rock (photo 2). Captured for measurement & photos, released on top of rock it was found under. 72deg F, cloudy, 93% hum, 30.2” Hg and rising, drizzling rain had just started 10min prior, no rain in >24hrs prior to drizzle. Forecast for stormy day, cooler than day prior. 75% waning gibbous over night prior.
