Agkistrodon piscivorus piscivorus (Northern Cottonmouth) found coiled under tree roots on rocky/sandy creek bank. Captured for measurements and photos. Copious musk, not cooperative with handling. 25” to tail tip, 21” to cloaca. Released into adjacent water, after which snake returned to bank (last photo) before swimming to far shore. Weather sunny, 78deg F, 63% hum, 30” Hg & rising. Night prior had low of 69deg F & 42% waning crescent moon.
