Agkistrodon piscivorus piscivorus (Northern Cottonmouth) found at 0831 CST coiled up among undergrowth between gravel parking area and creek. Captured for measurements and photos. Minimal musk, relatively docile. 30” to tail tip, 25” to cloaca. Released into brush beside river. Weather: sunny, 77deg F, 90% hum, 30.1” Hg & rising, no appreciable precipitation in >24hrs, possible stray showers in afternoon forecast, night prior had a 1.7% crescent/new moon. Adjacent Terrain: thin strip of hardwood bottom flanking river, abutted by mature pine stand going up hillside.
